LXA Course – AOD Level Crossing Attendant – Initial
Course Aims
To instruct delegates on correctly determining their roles and responsibilities when undertaking the duties of a Level Crossing Attendant on Network Rail Infrastructure.
Who Is The Course Suitable For?
Anyone over the age of 18 who is required to manually operate level crossing barriers which have failed or otherwise are required to be placed on local control, or to assist the signaller in the operation of the level crossing. As a Level Crossing Attendant is classed as working alone, they must hold a pts card and either hold COSS or IWA competency as a pre-requisite. Any COSS with a Red Triangle on their card is prohibited from working alone on the Infrastructure and therefore is not eligible to attend.

COURSE PRE-REQUISITIES
Must hold a current Sentinel Track Safety Card endorsed with either IWA or COSS Competence.
Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of the course candidates will be able to:
• Communicate effectively whilst undertaking Level Crossing Attendant’s duties
• Carry out Level Crossing Attendant’s duties competently in accordance with the Rule Book and industry standards.
