Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work

Who is this First aid course for?

The HABC Level 3 first aid course is a qualification designed to help organizations meet the minimum requirements for First aid staff in accordance with Health & Safety First Aid at Work Regulations (1981). Students will gain the knowledge and skills to effectively perform a wide variety of First Aid procedures in the workplace and deal with almost any emergency effectively until the arrival of professional help.

This first aid at work course meets the requirements for training first-aid staff in those organizations that have identified that staff need to be trained to this level within their first aid needs assessment.

This first aid courses are also available for anybody that works in Rail, Security or any other skilled roles.

How long will the first aid training take?

To complete this first aid at work course, learners should expect to undertake 22 hours of learning, typically over 3 days, with a minimum contact time of 18 hours.

Topics covered in the first aid course

Our first aid courses covers knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of the first aid staff. This first aid course also covers how to assess an incident and recognizing signs and symptoms of injury and illness. The first aid training also covers first aid skills in CPR and use of an AED and assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness such as chest injuries, spinal injuries and anaphylaxis.

Dealing with an Emergency, Infection Control, Primary & Secondary Surveys, Unconsciousness, CPR, Choking Procedures, Shock, Anaphylaxis, Wound/Bleed Management, Burns Management, Strokes, Asthma & Hyperventilation, Heart Attacks & Angina, Sprains & Strains, Diabetes Management, Seizures & Epilepsy, Fractures & Dislocations, Head Injuries, Crush Injuries and Chest Trauma and Injuries, The Importance of Accident Reports & RIDDOR Form, Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Assessment method for the first aid training

Students who attended our first aid courses were required to pass a final practical assessment. This has been replaced with continuous observation by the trainer and written assessments.

Whats next after this first aid course?

Upon completion of this first aid training, learners may wish to continue their development other qualifications:
• Level 3 Award in First Aid Response
HABC Level 3 Award in Paediatric Emergency First Aid (QCF)
HABC Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (QCF)

You must also be able to provide personal photographic identification.

This first aid at work course qualification lasts for a period of 3 years. Learners will do a refresher course when it expires.

Learners achieving this first aid course qualification may also go on to take other specialist first aid qualifications, such as:
